Program Description

This session was filmed at the Minority Corporate Counsel Association’s 2019 Creating Pathways to Diversity Conference.

Executive apologies often are seen as an indicator that more proactive measures are needed to build a work culture and business that is focused on diversity, inclusion and equity. While many of these organizations are taking measures to move the needle, it is clear that more must be done.

Headlines announcing executive apologies or the belated appointment of a chief diversity officer are not uncommon and corporations spanning all industries across the country are affected. What can corporations do to position themselves so that they are not taking reactive measures? How can law firms prepare corporations and develop a crisis response plan?

More importantly, how can corporations and law firms step away from reactive measures and take action to prioritize the importance of creating a diverse and inclusive work culture?

The panel will unpack the complex issues that are at the forefront of national corporations and what can be done moving forward toward a more diverse, inclusive and equitable society.
